Day 4: Lake Louise, Bow Lake

After getting a leisure start, I headed north in route to Jasper. The storm has faded a bit so I am greeted with amazing mountains at every turn. Just incredible.

The following two ice sculptures were at Lake Louise.

I kind of remember this place, when I was a little kid, yet I was quite taken back by the sheer size of the "Chateau" and the surrounding mountains.

I took a hike down to the end of the lake and back. With all the new snow, it was quite peaceful.

At the inlet, I recall noticing the contrast between the jagged mountains and the soft lines of the inlet to the lake.

Here is an ice fall which is actually quite large. I would guess around 6-7 stories tall.

Now, back at the other end of the lake, here is a picture of the water leaving Lake Louise.

It would not be "a Mike's Adventure" without a self portrait. :)

After I left Lake Louise, I was heading north again. It was getting darker quicker than I had hoped, so I decide that I would inquire on the roomrate of the Num-Ti-Jah Lodge next to Bow Lake.

The off-season rate was typically $140 (CAD), but they ask me how much I would be willing to spend. Hmmm, I don't know, how about $100. Sold, she said. Great. This place was amazing.

After I drop off my stuff, I head back outside to enjoy the ambiance amongst these great giants! Here is a X-Skier heading back to the lodge after (I assume) a great day of exploring.

Now, that the sun has set, it was time to explore the inside of this fancy joint. Far cry from the youth hostel I stayed in the night before. Here is a pict of the Billiards Room.

And here is the what I called the lounge.

A stool in the lounge had the following Canadian Maple Leaf. This is what I used for the background for this webpage.

I really had good time there. It was quite romantic, (yet I did not have anyone to share it with). But, oh well, I was saying at the time, if I got married, this might be a good place to spend one day on the honeymoon. I don't know, I think I was delirious. :)

After a nice diner and bottle of wine, I was prepared to go to the bon-fire that I was invited to by the employees. I guess I did not look like a typical guest. So, cool, I got all dressed, and laid down for one second. Oops! The next thing I know, it was now past midnight. Oh well. The next morning I took this picture of Mount Jimmy Simpson, named after the person who I guess built this lodge.

Here is the lodge nestle amongst the trees, bathed by the early sun light.

On to Day 5 ->
